Mario Badioli

Mario Badioli

Mario Badioli lives and works in Murano. He creates his sculptures in a small studio, where his daughter assists. His inspiration are the colors and forms of twentieth century art. Badioli's figures are considered somewhat "cubist", and he has been influenced by various French painters such as Picasso, Magritte and Klee. Badioli has perfected his method of applying color by "slapping" and "dripping" hot colored glass over clear. This technique enables him to express himself in a more "painterly" way and to achieve uniqueness. Badioli's glass is purposely imprecise as he prefers rough over smooth, textured over slick, mottled over precision. This apparently casual hand is, in fact, the signature of his style
