Terry Peterson

Terry Peterson was raised on the prairies of the Midwestern United States. His family relocated to southern California in 1965 when he was 10. His art career began at the age of 20 as the lead designer for a major international surfing T-shirt manufacturer. Following five years as a successful graphic artist he was recruited to work for Walt Disney Studios as a scenic artist. It was here, 12 years under the old masters, his talent was able to bloom. Terry Peterson has been a lead scenic artist for over 20 years. The disciplines and delights of his graphic art background, paired with the time honored skills of scenic art have since blended together to become his own unique impactful style. The days of hand-painting 40' x 100' movie backdrops day in, day out, year after year are gone for good. Modern technologies have rendered the scenic artist nearly extinct, but the rare combination of skills Terry Peterson possesses continue to be in demand for such diverse projects as an exhibit at the Smithsonian, to painting a fleet of Alaska Airlines Boeing 737s. His name may not be well known to the public, but his art is most certainly famous. He's worked on features at every major movie studio, has enormous pieces of art displayed in nearly every Disney Park, has been featured in several museums, is internationally published as well as being one of the very few artists in the world entrusted to render, in his own style, some of the most iconic figures in comics and animation, including Betty Boop and Mickey Mouse himself. He always brings the same energy and integrity to each and every project whether it's big or small, be it high or low profile. His belief is that, professionally, only one thing matters -- satisfying the client and artist alike with gorgeous work -- every time.
